SHS6 Common 1

SHS6 Common is a set of comprehensive guidelines developed by the Ministry of Education for the Senior High School (SHS) curriculum in Ghana. It provides a framework for teaching and learning across all SHS schools in the country.

The objectives of SHS6 Common are to provide students with a broad and balanced education that prepares them for tertiary education and the workforce, and to equip them with transferable skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and communication.

The SHS6 Common curriculum includes English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and an elective course in either Business, General Arts, or Science.

SHS6 Common is an updated and streamlined version of previous SHS curricula. It has been developed to address gaps in the previous curriculum and reflect changes in the Ghanaian education system. The new curriculum emphasizes skills development rather than rote learning.

SHS6 Common assessment is based on continuous assessment as well as an end-of-term examination. Students are assessed on their knowledge, understanding, application, and critical thinking skills in each subject they undertake.

There are numerous resources available to support SHS6 Common, including textbooks, teacher guides, past examination papers, and online resources provided by the Ministry of Education.

The SHS6 Common curriculum is designed to be completed within three years. This includes six terms of study in the core subjects and five terms of study in the elective subject.
